Love It Up;Episode 11:7 Anti-Rape Products You Shouldn’t Need

One of the worst things about the world right now is the prevalence of rape culture and the idea that anyone who is raped (male or female) is responsible for that attack. No matter how many times we say that it is never your fault, someone else is wondering what a survivor was wearing, why they were walking alone at night, why they had so much to drink, etc. It’s disgusting to me that we live in a world that teaches people not to get raped instead of teaching them not to rape. Apparently it’s too difficult to teach people to be decent human beings and not attack others. I don’t understand why that’s such a tough concept, but it is. It’s also apparently difficult for people to realize that no matter what someone is wearing, what they’re doing or where they are, that person is not to blame if they are raped. This isn’t rocket science, you guys. Instead of teaching people not to rape, we’re being bombarded with anti-rape products and guidelines on how to avoid being raped:

How to Build a Better Boy Premieres Friday!

How to Build a Better Boy premieres Friday, August 15, at 8pm ET/PT on the Disney Channel. We interviewed stars Kelli Berglund and China Anne McClain about the movie in our latest issue. Here’s what Kelli Berglund had to say about the movie: “My character Mae and China’s character Gabby are best friends who are definitely geeky girls. They’re cool with it, but really only have each other since people alienate them for being so intelligent (which is really unfortunate). Mae dreams of having the perfect boyfriend, so Gabby suggests they create a virtual boy. We think it’s just a virtual guy, but he shows up at our high school one day. Mae is excited, but Gabby is skeptical and wants to get to bottom of it. What ends up happening is that Mae is put in a sticky situation; she has a “best-friend-versus-boyfriend situation”. She’s gaining more popularity, with a perfect boyfriend and cute wardrobe, but realizes this is putting a roadblock between her friendship with Gabby… which really is most important.” Here are a few more pics from How to Build a Better Boy:
