Hallmark Channel News: Hallmark Channel Extends Kitten Competition To Summer

Hallmark Channel is extending its Super Bowl counterprogramming kitten competition franchise to the summer, with Kitten Summer Games. It will premiere on the network in August 2016 and will showcase hundreds of adoptable kittens. “With our phenomenal shelter partners, Crown Media Family Networks is having a positive impact on rescuing animals from high kill shelters and significantly increasing the numbers of shelter pet adoptions,” said Bill Abbott, President & CEO, Crown Media Family Networks. More than 20 shelter partners of North Shore Animal League America came together to host Kitten Bowl II viewing parties which resulted in hundreds of animals being adopted on Su-Purr Sunday. Hallmark Channel hopes many more shelters will host adoption parties around Kitten Summer Games with the goal of dramatically increasing pet adoptions. Kitten Summer Games is executive produced by 3 Ball Entertainment’s JD Roth, Todd A. Nelson, Adam Kaloustian and Brant Pinvidic, with Jesse Drollette serving as co-executive producer. 3 Ball Entertainment credits include Extreme Weight Loss (ABC), Bar Rescue (Spike) and My Cat From Hell (Animal Planet), among others. Crown Media Family Networks, which owns and operates Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, is the home of Pet Project, the company’s pro-social initiative, which utilizes entertainment to show the joys pets bring to lives. The company recently adopted Happy The Cat from a shelter in rural Ohio, and Happy The Dog who was abandoned on a street in South Los Angeles. Both will be featured nationally as Crown Media Family Networks’ ambassadors of “adopt, don’t shop” pet adoption initiatives. As announced this morning on ABC’s Good Morning America, the celebrities with their professional partners heading to the ballroom this season (in alphabetical order) are: NOAH GALLOWAY — A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Sergeant Noah Galloway was assigned to the 1st of the 502nd Infantry of the 101st Airborne Division out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Just three months into his second tour of duty, he experienced a life changing injury. On December 19, 2005, Galloway lost his left arm above the elbow and left leg above the knee in an Improvised Explosive Device attack. He was transported to Germany to receive medical treatment, remaining unconscious for five days. Galloway woke up late in the evening on Christmas Eve to learn he lost two of his limbs and sustained severe injuries to his right leg and his jaw. Galloway was then transferred to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. After a long stint in recovery and rehabilitation, Galloway did what many disabled veterans do, becoming withdrawn, out of shape and depressed. The former fitness fanatic and hyper competitive athlete was now drinking, smoking and sleeping his days away. But late one night, Galloway took a long look in the mirror and realized there was more to him than the injuries so he set a goal to get back in shape, be healthier and inspire others. Now a personal trainer and motivational speaker, the father of three doesn’t take excuses from his clients, fans and followers. He continues to compete, participating in adventure races around the country, such as Tough Mudder, Spartan events plus numerous 5K and 10K races. A sought after public speaker, Galloway travels the country sharing his story, encouraging and motivating others to offer no excuses. Most recently, Galloway appeared on the November cover of Men’s Health Magazine, as he was named the publication’s 2014 Ultimate Guy. He’s also been a guest on numerous national talk shows including Ellen and The Today Show. A firm believer in giving back to those around him in need, Galloway recently created the No Excuses Charitable Fund, which raises money and awareness for organizations that mean the most to him, including Operation Enduring Warrior and the YMCA of Alabaster, AL. Noah is partnered with Sharna Burgess. ROBERT HERJAVEC — Robert Herjavec is recognized as the “nice” Shark on ABC’s Emmy Award-winning hit show Shark Tank.

Jessie, The Love Story; Episode 25: 3 Reasons You Should NOT Wear Makeup to the Gym by Emma Ross

Exercise is an activity meant to keep your body fit and healthy, but so many girls ignore the importance of keeping one thing healthy during workouts: their skin. Sure, we all want to look as though we're unfazed by that CrossFit box session, so a little foundation can't hurt. Or maybe we just don't have time to remove makeup from the day before jetting off to a dance class. There are many ways you can get glowing skin without sacrificing the health of your body's biggest organ. C'mon, the natural flush you get when busting out your best squats is better than any blush on the market! We spoke to Miami-based dermatologist Janelle Vega, M.D. of Mayoral Dermatology and Indie Lee, skincare expert and founder of her namesake skin care line, Indie Lee to give you the scoop on why you need to scrub it all off before a workout. Get ready to take notes. It Clogs Your Pores "Sweat is released through visible pores in the skin," says Dr. Vega. "When makeup covers those pores, that barrier doesn't allow the sweat to make it to the surface of the skin, which can lead to clogged pores. The trapped debris and bacteria are a perfect breeding ground for acne bumps and zits." But don't get it confused—sweat is not the enemy! "Sweating is like a free steam facial for your skin," says Lee. "The worst thing you can do is block your pores during this natural detox. Remove makeup before breaking a sweat so skin stays as clean and as healthy as possible." You Don't Want Acne Your daily SPF can actually be troublesome in this context. No good deed goes unpunished, huh? "Sun protection is very important, there's no doubt," says Lee. "But sunscreen absorbs into open pores more easily when you sweat. Three-quarters of all sunscreens contain harmful ingredients that can travel directly into your bloodstream, creating long-term health risks. Chemical ingredients in sunscreen have been linked to skin reactions including acne, burning, dryness, itching, redness, and swelling." But this is no excuse to go without SPF if you're working out during the day. "Instead, opt for healthier sunscreens when active while the sun is out," says Lee. "As I always say, read your ingredients. I also recommend wearing clothes that have SPF in them for added protection without the negative side effects." You're Naturally Beautiful A clear complexion comes from loving and taking care of your skin with the proper daily beauty regimen. Have you noticed more and more celebrities aren't afraid to share their #iwokeuplikethis images on Twitter and Instagram? Get inspired! "If you're prone to redness or rosacea, apply a toner or facial mist with anti-inflammatory properties prior to exercising," says Lee. This will help alleviate redness during and after your workout. Try Indie Lee's CoQ-10 Toner, which offers a soothing blend of chamomile and CoQ-10 to keep skin protect and hydrate your skin." Caring for your skin doesn't end once you leave the gym. "Your sweat is acidic by nature and can knock your pH balance out of whack if you wait too long to shower after working out," says Lee. "Clean skin with a gentle formula that not only removes dirt and impurities, but also balances your complexion." Ready to bare your skin for today's workout? Don't make us beg! ¿Quiénes serán los ganadores del Oscar 2015? Conoce nuestras predicciones…

ALFOMBRA ROJA > OMG! Podría ganar: The imitation game.

Common Counts ‘Selma’ Blessings at Global Green’s Pre-Oscar Party

Wednesday night drew a slew of eco-conscious stars to Hollywood hotspot Avalon for Global Green USA’s 12th annual pre-Oscar party, where nominee Common headlined the night with an energetic set that culminated in an electrifying performance of Best Song contender “Glory,” taken from Ava DuVernay’s “Selma.” While many viewers remain outraged by “Selma’s” lack of awards recognition — especially the snubs for DuVernay’s direction and star David Oyelowo’s performance as Martin Luther King, Jr. — Common preferred to focus on the positives during his performance, telling the lively crowd, “We’re nominated for Best Picture, y’all — we’re blessed.” “Twilight” alum Ashley Greene and comedian Theo Von hosted the environmentally friendly event, which also featured musical performances from Jimmy Demers, Gary Wright and Makana, along with a live auction and sustainable dinner courtesy of Chef Kai Loebach, including a kale and sprout salad; salmon and farmers market vegetable curry entrees; and mason jar carrot cake parfait. Among the green-minded attendees were Maggie Grace, Lamorne Morris, Amy Smart, Cheryl Tiegs, Matt Walsh, Billy Zane, Alysia Reiner, Missi Pyle, and Fran Drescher. The evening promoted sustainability with recycled products and seed paper wristbands that could be planted and grown into wildflowers or herbs after use.

The List of 2015 Kids’ Choice Awards Nominees is Missing Some HUGE Names

There’s only one month until the 2015 Kids’ Choice Awards — let the countdown begin! With all of the amazing movies, TV shows and music from the last year, it’s sure to be a good one, especially since the host of 2015 is none other than… Nick Jonas! She put out music — with the host, no less — and toured all year. That deserves credit as well, no? WHAT and EVER. Nevertheless, other major names — like Jennifer Lawrence, Taylor Swift and One Direction — received some love from the Nickelodeon awards show.
