EVERYTHING WE KNOW ABOUT STAR WARS RESISTANCE, A NEW ANIMATED SERIES COMING TO DISNEY CHANNEL

Disney Channel is bringing us back to a galaxy far, far away! We found out this week that production has begun for Star Wars Resistance, an all-new animated series that explores the events prior to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We will be able to follow the adventures of Kazuda Xiono, a young pilot recruited by the Resistance for a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order, when the series premieres this fall on Disney Channel in the United States (and thereafter, on Disney XD and around the world)!

Our fave droid BB-8 will be joined by ace pilots, new characters, and appearances by some of our favorite Star Wars icons—including Poe Dameron and Captain Phasma, who will be voiced by Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie, who play the roles in the live-action films.. The voice cast also includes Christopher Sean, Suzie McGrath, Scott Lawrence, Myrna Velasco (Elena of Avalor), Josh Brener, Donald Faison, Bobby Moynihan (DuckTales), Jim Rash, and Rachel Butera.

Star Wars Resistance was created by legendary Lucasfilm Animation veteran Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels), executive-produced by Athena Portillo (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels), Justin Ridge (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels), and Brandon Auman, and art-directed by Amy Beth Christenson (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels). With this group of talent, we’ve got a good feeling about this!

Filoni said about the inspiration behind the story:

“The idea for Star Wars Resistance came out of my interest in World War II aircraft and fighter pilots. My grandfather was a pilot and my uncle flew and restored planes, so that’s been a big influence on me. There’s a long history of high-speed racing in Star Wars, and I think we’ve captured that sense of excitement in an anime-inspired style, which is something the entire team has been wanting to do for a long time.”

We can’t wait to see this innovative take on Star Wars! Marc Buhaj, senior vice president of programming general manager at Disney XD, added:

“Our colleagues at Lucasfilm have created a compelling narrative for an untold moment in the Star Wars galaxy, and we are excited to partner with them again on this new original series. Star Wars Resistance will bring viewers across generations an engaging story with heart, humor, and both new and familiar characters.”

Are you ready to jump into hyperspace? We sure will be when Star Wars Resistance comes to Disney Channel and Disney XD this fall!

It’s official, this California Adventure icon will officially be renamed the Pixar Pal-A-Round. The re-imagined attraction will still feature the iconic face of Mickey Mouse. Who Are The Prisoners Returning To Earth on ‘The 100′ Season 5? Showrunner Previews Where They’ve Been & What They Want

We are so excited that tonight's the night of The 100's season 5 premiere!

In the premiere, Clarke and Madi are seemingly the only two people left on the planet...until the prisoners arrive - but just who are the prisoners?

"Her [Charmaine's] people are a little bit screwed up, because they’re all maximum security inmates who have overthrown their jailers on this long duration space mission and come home to a world that they obviously didn’t anticipate being post-apocalyptic," showrunner Jason Rothenberg previewed.

He adds that "they thought they were going to come back to the world that they left, albeit a long time later. So when they find this last little valley after having scoured [the globe] orbitally looking for a place to land, they believe that it’s theirs, too."

"They believe that they’ve done their time and made it home, and it’s their planet as much as it is anybody’s. They want a second chance, and they’re going to fight for it."

As for leader Charmaine, she's a villain, but not really a villain.

"I apply that word 'villain' loosely to her," Jason added. "Really, all of the characters that would fit that description, we really try to make them as complex and as nuanced as possible so we understand where they’re coming from. She’s someone who, as a character, I think some people are going to root for."

The 100 premieres TONIGHT, April 24th @ 9PM ET/PT on The CW.

20 Years Without a New Disney World Park Is Enough

Disney's Animal Kingdom turns 20, and it's been a long time since Florida's seen a new Disney theme park.

Disney's Animal Kingdom turns 20 this morning. The animal-themed park opened to mixed reviews on Earth Day in 1998, over time evolving into a full-day destination worthy of critical praise. A few years ago, it passed Disney's Hollywood Studios -- a park that is now in the process of a massive makeover -- to become Disney World's third most visited park.

The park has come a long way. Disney's Animal Kingdom attracted more than 10.8 million guests in 2016, according to industry tracker Themed Entertainment Association. In a few weeks, we should get the estimates for what will be a record 2017 haul, following the debut of Pandora-The World of Avatar. Turnstile clicks bottomed out at 7.3 million in 2003.

However, the unwritten storyline in Animal Kingdom turning 20 is that Disney (NYSE:DIS) hasn't introduced another new theme park in Florida in that time. Disney World was christened with the 1971 opening of the Magic Kingdom, now the world's most visited theme park. It would go on to open a new park every 11 years or less -- until now.

Five is the charm
There's been plenty of speculation and online chatter over the years about a fifth theme park. Disney certainly isn't smarting for space given the massive size of its resort, and Disney World has built enough new on-site resort hotel accommodations to justify additional park capacity. Ticket prices have gone up every year under Disney's Animal Kingdom tenure.

Right now, there may not be anything inherently wrong with its four-park approach. Disney's theme parks business was the only segment to grow revenue and operating income for the entertainment giant last year. However, with rival Universal Orlando closing the attendance gap since 2009 -- and likely to announce at least one new theme park itself in the coming years -- Disney may not have much of a choice.

Universal Orlando parent Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) has been snapping up land just outside of its Florida resort over the past two years, and it now has more undeveloped land outside of Universal Orlando than it does in its current resort that features two theme parks, a high-tech water park, and what will be six hotels this summer. Comcast isn't playing around.

Disney will be busy adding major new attractions to its four parks in the next three years, building up the resort in anticipation of a blowout 2021 when Disney World turns 50. However, tourist attention will then turn a few miles north to Universal Orlando, where Comcast will likely be building up a still-unannounced new theme park and several more hotels to go with the eight that will be open by 2021.

Today, the spotlight is on Disney's Animal Kingdom, and rightfully so. The park that opened to mixed reviews is now more than just a cult fave. It has made smart ride, attraction, and dining decisions. The next three years also shouldn't be a problem as Disney puts out one e-ticket ride after another. However, once the last of those 50 candles go out for the Magic Kingdom, it will already need to be well into the development of its fifth theme park. Comcast is gaining on Disney, and you can't ignore the objects that are growing in your rearview mirror.

GO ON A RESCUE RANGERS NOSTALGIA TRIP WITH THIS ARTIST’S REIMAGINED CHARACTER DESIGNS

Ready for a Rescue Rangers nostalgia trip? Given how often I hum the theme song to myself, my answer to that question is “Always,” so I was delighted to see artist Becky Dreistadt’s unofficial renditions of Chip, Dale, Gadget, and Monterey Jack pop up on Twitter this past week.

Dreistardt, a character designer for Disney XD’s Star vs. the Forces of Evil, shared her modernized portraits of the chipmunks, Gadget, and the whole gang, plus a slew of what she dubbed “adventure ideas.”

Using the series’ basic concept of Chip and Dale solving mysteries with the aid of one extremely capable mouse in a jumpsuit (Gadget) and another rodent whose cheese fixation is a little over the top (Monty), Dreistadt was able to develop what could easily be a springboard for entire episodes of a Rescue Rangers reboot.

I’m particularly intrigued by whatever Monty was framed for. Who did this to you, Monty? Was it Zipper? I never trusted that guy!

Given the proliferation of reboots across all TV genres, a modernized Rescue Rangers doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility. And from the look of it, Dreistadt and her partner Frank Gibson, who contributed both his voice and his writing talent to Bee and PuppyCat, would be the right co-showrunners for the job. My only request: retaining that flawless theme song (though if Ramin Djawadi wants to make it moodier and darker and more epic, I wouldn’t be opposed).

Ariana Grande Gives a Surprise Performance at Coachella 2018

The second weekend of Coachella is underway, and attendees have already been #blessed with a pretty epic surprise: an unexpected performance from Ariana Grande.

Fans suspected that the singer-songwriter might be making an appearance at the festival when her manager, Scooter Braun, posted a couple of pretty cryptic tweets yesterday evening. "Hey @ArianaGrande ... what are u are you doing tonight???" he asked, adding a cactus emoji for emphasis. Later, he tweeted again: "On the way the Coachella stage! Let’s see who is there?????" Needless to say, Arianators quickly flipped out, replying with excitement: "OMG #ARICHELLA IS REALLY HAPPENING!!!!"

And yes, #Arichella did really happen. As noted by Entertainment Tonight, Ariana took the stage during Kygo's set to perform her brand-new single "No Tears Left to Cry." Her signature ponytail was tinted lavender for the event, and she rocked a color-coordinated outfit to match, complete with over-the-knee boots.

Soon enough, excited concertgoers began sharing photos and video of the performance on social media, posting enthusiastically about the epic surprise. "MY BABY #ARICHELLA," one fan tweeted alongside a colorful photo of the stage. "I CANT TALK OMG IM SOOOO OMG," another audience member wrote (honestly, I'd have the same reaction).

As for Ariana, she posted a few photos on Instagram from the evening, including a sweet pic of her hugging Mac Miller. "Baby’s first time performing No Tears tonight at Coachella," Ariana wrote in another caption, adding: "Thank you @kygomusic for having me!" It's safe to say that Ariana stole the show last night, and we'll be keeping our eyes peeled to see what other surprises are in store for 'chella attendees throughout the weekend.

Love It Up News Returns - Season 2, Episode 14: Top 7 Tips for a Magical Character Meet and Greets at Disney World

Is there anything better than an up close and personal meeting with characters from your favorite Disney movies, televisions shows and stories?! This is usually one of the highlights from a Walt Disney World vacation! I mean, I’ll be the first to admit that there aren’t many things sweeter than seeing my youngest son give Minnie a big ol’ kiss on the nose or my oldest hanging out with his hero, Buzz Lightyear! And even as an adult posing for a picture with Cinderella is a dream come true!

There’s always the potential of a long wait, or even the unknown of how your child will react to seeing their favorite character life-size and not on a screen. With that in mind, I’ve come up with several tips to help alleviate any stress and anxiety that may damper your magical meet and greets!

1. If there are young children in your party set realistic expectations. Just because they love watching Doc McStuffins fix boo boo’s every morning on Disney Junior’s Doc Toy Hospital does not mean they will immediately run up to her at Hollywood Studios and offer to help fix Lambie! Now, they might and that would be awesome (and why Memory Maker is great for character meet and greets) but they may also be a little taken aback that this Doc is SO much bigger than what they are used to seeing on their television screen. So just take it slow and follow the little one’s lead – you can get lots of cute pictures even if you’re holding your kiddo’s hand! And then you’re in your vacation pictures too!

2. Plan ahead. Decide what characters you really want to meet and those you aren’t as interested in. Make sure you’re checking the My Disney Experience app or even the Times Guide when you get to the park so you know where the characters you want to meet will be and at what time. That makes it easier to get to the front of the line!

3. This goes along with setting realistic expectations of younger guests in your party. Don’t force them to interact with the characters. In my experience Cast Members that are “friends with” our favorite Disney characters are great at reading children and interacting with them on a level that’s comfortable for everyone. That’s how some of our favorite memories have been made actually!

4. Have your autograph book (or pillowcase or photo mat) ready while you’re in line. Not all characters sign items (King Louie hasn’t learned to write yet!) but for those that will, having everything ready to go means you will spend less time fumbling around in your bag and more time enjoying your time with your favorite characters. And if Mom, Dad or Grandma don’t plan on being in the photo make them the designated autograph item wrangler – you’ll get into a good rhythm and things will go so much smoother! 5. Book a character meal (or several!). Character dining is the best! It’s a great way to meet several of your favorite characters in a more relaxed environment – and enjoy some amazing food at the same time! Chef Mickey’s is a great option with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy all in attendance. And Cinderella’s Royal Table or Akershus have some of your favorite Disney Princesses all in one place! And dinner at 1900 Park Fare is probably one of my top 3 favorite character meals in all of Walt Disney World. Take advantage of as many character meals as your budget will allow! And remember, kids 2 and under eat “free” at buffets so that’s something to consider as well.

6. If there is a character you really want to meet at the park and they offer a FastPass, take advantage of it. Mickey and friends at the Epcot Character Spot, Ariel in her Grotto at Magic Kingdom and Tinker Bell at Town Square Theater are some of my favorite FP+ character meet and greets to schedule. There is nothing worse than waiting in long line with a little (or big!) kid who can’t wait to meet their favorite mouse or princess. This is especially helpful if you’re traveling with small children who don’t meet the height requirements for some of the popular E-ticket attractions!

And here is one last little tip if you’re traveling with especially young toddlers.

7. Take advantage of videos of character interactions and shows on video sharing sites such as You Tube. It’s worked really well with both of my kids in the past. Letting your child see what they may experience may take away some of the fright. I can’t promise this will work but it’s worth a shot!

Are you ready to experience the magic of meeting your favorite Disney characters?! Let the amazing Travel Planners at MickeyTravels help you make the most out of your trip to Walt Disney World and make memories that will last a lifetime! "Created for and By Fans of Georgia Jones"

Final Deadpool 2 trailer references those other superhero movies

“You all know the drill…”

Well, you do, right? First, you watch this new Deadpool 2 trailer, then you laugh, then you get excited and pre-buy your tickets for release day on May 18, then you watch it again. Maybe at some point, you’ll also read these words… maybe not.

The latest trailer for the Ryan Reynolds-starrer features a handful of references to other recent and upcoming superhero movies, like when the Merc with a Mouth’s voiceover says to Cable, “Pump the hate breaks, Thanos” (Josh Brolin plays both Cable in Deadpool 2 and Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War). And after Cable calls Wade Wilson “just a clown dressed up as a sex toy,” he responds with this quip: “So dark — are you sure you’re not from the DC universe?”

Here’s the official plot synopsis for the sequel, as if you haven’t already memorized it:

After surviving a near-fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor — finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Deadpool 2 hits theaters on May 17, 2018. Watch the trailer above.

Disney’s Maleficent Sequel Cast Ed Skrein To Play A Villain

Production for the second installment of Disney’s Maleficent will start later this year with Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning returning to portray their original roles. Today it was announced that Ed Skrein, the English actor and rapper, will play a villain in the sequel. Playing the bad guy comes naturally to Ed, as his previous roles include the villain in the 2016 blockbuster, Deadpool.

In the first Maleficent, Sharlto Copley played the villain who stole Maleficent’s (Angelina Jolie) heart and then her fairy wings, turning her into the sorceress we are familiar with in the animated classic.

Dicen por ahí que un "clavo saca a otro clavo" sin embargo para Justin Bieber parece que la mejor terapia antes que buscarle reemplazo a Selena Gómez, es disfrutar de la música.
