Love It Up News, Season 2, Episode 13: Opens Up About Depression and Mental Health on ‘Saturday Night Life’: Video (Visited by Georgia Jones)

Keeping it real. Pete Davidson opened up about his mental health in his own comedic way on the Saturday, October 7, episode of Saturday Night Live.

Davidson appeared on the show’s “Weekend Update” segment and briefly touched upon his widely publicized struggles before giving out a few tips to those who battle depression.

“First of all, if you think you’re depressed, see a doctor and talk with him about medication and also, be healthy. Eating right and exercise can make a HUGE difference,” Davidson continued.

“And finally, if you are in the cast of a late-night comedy show, it might help if, you know, they use more of your sketches,” he said in a guilt-trip attempt, which prompted the audience to burst into laughter.

“Are you saying you’re depressed because you’re not getting enough air time?” Colin Jost asked.

“No, no, no. I was born depressed but it might make me feel better if I was on TV more,” the Staten Island native answered, to which Jost responded, “I don’t know if this is maybe the best solution.”

“It’s worth a shot. I mean, the show is, like, eight hours long. There’s, like, 50 sketches a week. It seems weird that you wouldn’t use one of them to fight mental illness, but I guess that’s not your style,” Davidson joked.

“Well, maybe one approach might be to write more sketches for yourself?” Jost suggested.

“That won’t work. My sketches suck because they’re all written by a depressed person,” Davidson quipped.

The Saturday Night Live star revealed on the WTF With Marc Maron podcast in September that in 2016, he ”started having these mental breakdowns where I would, like, freak out and then not remember what happened after. Blind rage."

Assuming that his marijuana use was to blame, he decided to quit smoking in the hopes that his condition would improve — but it didn’t. Davidson admitted he relied on marijuana to ease the pain of his Crohn’s disease, but after celebrating three months of sobriety, he still felt the same. "I found out I have BPD, which is borderline personality disorder," he shared. "One of my psychiatrists [diagnosed me]. He was always saying before this big meltdown, 'You're probably bipolar or borderline, we're just going to have to figure it out.' ... I'm depressed all the time."

The comic now goes to therapy sessions and has begun taking new medication for BPD. "It is working, slowly but surely," he said. "I've been having a lot of problems. This whole year has been a f--king nightmare. This has been the worst year of my life, getting diagnosed with this and trying to figure out how to learn with this and live with this."

Davidson was just 7 years old when he lost his father, Scott, to the terrorist attacks in New York City on September 11, 2001. He believes the loss greatly impacted his mental health.

The comedian’s return to SNL in March after a stint in rehab was met with applause from the studio audience.

Love It Up News, Season 2, Ep. 12: The Wizards of Waverly Place cast had the *sweetest* weekend reunion!

Can you believe it’s been five years since Wizards of Waverly Place ended? Yeah, uh, neither can we! Since the end of the Disney Channel show, the Russo sibs have done some growing up. Selena Gomez, who played the iconic Alex Russo, is now a worldwide singing and acting sensation. Her onscreen younger bro, Jake T. Austin (Max), starred on The Fosters and was recently a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. Meanwhile, the eldest Russo, David Henrie (Justin), has had roles in Arrested Development, How I Met Your Mother and several movies. The most recent development in David's life, though? He just got married!

David invited the whole Russo gang to his SoCal nuptials over the weekend, and it looks like they had a blast! Jennifer Stone (Alex's BFF, Harper), Maria Canals-Barrera (Theresa), David DeLuise (Jerry), Jake and Sel, were all in attendance at David’s wedding to Maria Cahill. People reported that the TV family, along with Jennifer and Jake's S/O's, even shared a table at the event. If you had any doubt that our favorite sandwich-selling wizard fam wasn’t still super close, you’ll love this. David tells People that Selena Gomez was "one of the first people I told I was getting married. She was like, 'I’m in. Whenever it is, I’ll be there.'" She was going to perform a song initially, but David says, "as it got closer, I was like 'No, just relax and enjoy the evening.' But it very well might [happen spontaneously]."

Sounds like it was a *magical* day! Check out the pics below.

Was this enough of a Wizards of Waverly Place reunion for you, or do you want more? Do you miss the show? Tell us in the comments!

#LoveItUpNews, Season 2, Ep.10: I Went a Week Without Shampooing My Hair and It Changed My Life

You know those magical unicorn people who can go 14 days straight without shampooing their hair and still look like they're fresh out of the shower? Yeah, I'm not one of those people. I usually only lather up my hair follicles every other day, but if I go any longer without sudsing, I'm a greasy mess. Dry shampoo helps calm the situation, but it's only a temporary fix.

So when my boss suggested I go a full work week without shampoo (the liquid kind, dry shampoo is fair game, thank god), while documenting the entire process, I was not excited. But in the name of investigative journalism, the internet's obsession with gross stuff, and my paycheck, I offered my scalp in search of the truth. (PS: the word 'scalp' is probably going be used a lot in this story, so if it grosses you out (ߙ˩, you've been warned.)

We begin our journey...

Day 1

This morning when I woke up, I knew this would be my very last day of shampoo – glorious, glorious shampoo – for an entire week. To prepare for the disgusting days ahead of me (because I live in New York and it's the hottest month of summer, not because I'm a gross person, just FYI), I used a clarifying shampoo to strip my hair of all the oils and built-up gunk currently living on my head. I skipped conditioner to try to start with as little oil as possible on my strands.

When I went through my morning routine, I opted out of any and all product – my hands and my blowdryer were my only helpers. Luckily, I've been really into going product-free the past couple of weeks, so I was vibin' on my messy look. Then, I accidentally dipped my hair in soup. No Wash Challenge: 1, Kelsey: 0.

Day 2

Two days is normally my cutoff for skipping shampoo. Unless I use a ton of product or played with my hair all day, day two normally goes by smoothly and this time was no exception. As usual, I rinsed my hair with water in the shower, blow dried it a bit to remove excess water, and scrunched it as it dried. I always wet it in the shower if I'm skipping shampoo to avoid bed head.

Day 3

The reason I always shampoo after two days is because I physically cannot do more than that – my scalp can't take it. My head will start to itch and the longer I go with dirty hair, the more it itches. On more than one occasion when I've skipped sudsing, I've scratched my head to the point that my scalp started bleeding. This is serious business. Thankfully, though, avoiding product and skipping conditioner seemed to work. I didn't scratch at all and apart from a little greasiness around the crown of my head, my hair looked pretty much normal.

Instead of letting it hang down in my face, which would inevitably lead to me pushing it out of my face all day and thus, touching it with my oily fingers, I chose to rock a hun. Last summer I lived in half-buns, but I haven't really been feeling them lately. This was a great excuse to revive the look.

Day 4

Okay, I've officially figured out the secret to not washing your hair: don't use product. Because I cut out the added oils and gunk, my hair game was still pretty solid four days into my No Shampoo Quest. It looked a bit gross around my face and crown, so I caved and spritzed on some of my favorite dry shampoo, effectively ending my no-product binge. I'll probably pay dearly for this tomorrow.

Day 5

Nope, my hair still looks great. Weirdly, it seems like the longer I go without washing my hair, the better it looks. My curls are forming nicely, but honestly, I'm finding it hard to focus on anything because I can't stop thinking about washing my hair. Never have I yearned to use shampoo so intensely. My roots got a little nasty, so I tapped on some baby powder and it cleared up the grease instantly. I've also been spending extra time scrubbing my scalp with my fingers in the shower to try to let the water wash off as much head slime as possible.

Day 6

This was not a good week to schedule a haircut, but NYC is expensive and since I was going home to Illinois for the weekend, I had to get a cut at my go-to salon. I warned my hairstylist and thankfully she didn't complain much, but I felt awful for forcing her to touch my six-day-old hair. I keep getting whiffs of my dirty scalp and it's not pleasant, so I can't imagine how gross cutting my hair must be right now.

She sprayed down my hair with water before cutting it, but other than that my trip to the salon went pretty normally. Since I wasn't coloring my hair, she didn't have to wash it, but she did add a bit of styling spray to it before I left. The down side of all of this is that when your hair is dirty and gross, it's pretty hard to get that fresh, new cut feeling, even when you did just take off an inch of hair.

Day 7

I GET TO WASH MY HAIR TODAY! I'm literally counting down the hours – it's all I can think about. But still, my hair looks startlingly good. Apparently, seven days of dirt and sweat mixed with water really works for me.

Never have I felt more refreshed or amazing than the moment I stepped out of the shower after seven days sans shampoo. I washed my hair twice with clarifying shampoo to get out every last dirt particle, and now I feel like a newborn angel. This experiment definitely taught me the secret to skipping shampoo: just go as light on the product as possible and really scrub your hair while you rinse it.

Now that the challenge is over, my hair has retained its ability to go shampoo-free. I went back to my every other day wash routine, but after the second day I didn't feel like a wash was necessary. I still washed it though, just because I'm slightly traumatized after going an entire week without. Other than that, my hair doesn't feel much different. I feel like it's softer, but I think that's just because I got used to how it feels while covered in a week's worth of New York street dust.

Love It Up News: Season 2, Episode 6: ‘Hollywood Medium’ Reconnects Bella Thorne With Late Father — Watch

Tyler Henry is known as the Hollywood Medium — a 20-year-old who brings messages to the stars from beyond. On the premiere, he is drawn to Bella Thorne at a party, and the connection he makes is surreal. Watch the exclusive look here Bella Thorne, 18, may have thought she was heading to a party, but she never would have thought she’d be receiving a message from her late father. Tyler Henry, the star of Hollywood Medium on E!, reveals in a new clip that he “got a pull” in her direction while at the party. They had never met, but he said that he felt he must “deliver a message” to her. Watch that message here.

“Even when Im trying to unwind, I still pick up on information and have to deliver it,” Tyler said. “There’s no such thing as being off the clock.”

He then pulls her aside and tells her he’s connecting with a fatherly figure from the other side, who died suddenly, and he hears an engine. “Do you have anyone who passed in a car accident?” Bella looks shocked, adding, “My dad died in a motorcycle accident.” With that, he also reveals to her the date of his death, and reveals there’s some sort of stuffed animal, that’s very deteriorated, that has sentimental value to someone in the family, another female. “The way that he comes across, he’s really sweet. The amount of pride that he has for you is amazing. It’s huge, in the way it comes through. Please know he’s perfectly fine and he’s okay.”

Bella has been very private about her father’s passing. In Nov. 2015 she spoke out about it for the first time, admitting she doesn’t have her permit or license. “My father died in a motorcycle accident,” she told Seventeen magazine. “I’m not mature enough to accept the responsibility of perhaps taking someone else’s life.” When speaking about her life growing up, she admitted it was tough, and her family was on food stamps. “I don’t think anybody really knew — it wasn’t a very obvious thing. I’ve never really talked about it. I wasn’t hiding it, and it wasn’t like, ‘Oh, I’m embarrassed because we don’t have money.’ It was, ‘Oh, we don’t have money, so we’re going to work that much harder.’ It was scary, though, because you really want those jobs. It’s a different hunger when you want your family to eat.”

Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry will feature celebrities Amber Rose, Cheryl Burke, Rob Dyrdek, Snooki, and more. Watch the premiere Sunday, January 24 at 10pm ET/PT on E!

She's always surprising us! Disney Channel star Zendaya just announced that she has officially joined the judging panel for the 2016 Miss America pageant. (So that makes her a singer, an actor, a shoe designer, a book author, a motivational speaker (?), and now a pageant judge, too. Wow!)

In a statement, Zendaya expressed her heartfelt excitement for the opportunity.

“It's great to be part of a show that celebrates women who are in college or graduated, and striving to make the world a better place,” she said.

The 95th anniversary show is already proving to be a star-studded affair, although two spots on the panel remain unfilled. Z joins the likes of already-announced judges Brett Eldridge, Amy Purdy, Kevin O'Leary, and Taya Kyle.

“I remember watching Miss America as a kid, so it's an honor to help celebrate the 95th anniversary of the competition and to help select the next Miss America,” Zendaya said.

Are you excited Zendaya is going to be a part of the 2016 Miss America pageant? We want to hear your thoughts: Who do you think should perform at the pageant? Let us know by leaving a comment below!

Love It Up News 2 - Episode 1: 16 Things That Zendaya Instagrams That a Normal Teen Never Would

We’ve loved Zendaya since she first graced our TV screens on the Disney Channel hit Shake It Up! and even though she’s growing up, she’s still awesome and a total badass. Yes, she has killer style and seems totally down to earth, but she’s not your average teenager. Okay, so Zendaya is a lot more like you than most stars — she did just graduate from high school after all — but when it comes to social media she is NOT your average teen.

Zendaya’s former Shake It Up! co-star, Bella Thorne posts over-the-top Instagrams, so it’s not that surprising that when it comes to social media Zendaya posts some totally unrealistic pictures too. For starters the K.C. Undercover star LOVES expensive shoes, which we would also love if we, you know, had a TON of money. Oh, and she’s got her own billboard in Los Angeles. You know what, why don’t we just prove our point with her pics below:

1. Front row reunions. Don’t you and your BFF have mini reunions sitting front row at Fashion Week? Ya, we didn’t think so.

2. TV promos. This is basically the ultimate selfie, but way cooler. Not only does Zendaya have her own show right now, but she also has proof of it with this ad. It’s so badass, just like her.

3. Concerts on the field. Okay, we admit some people do get to step onto a real-life NFL football field, but Zendaya makes those people look like bums. She’s actually sung on the Carolina Panther’s field! #Jealous.

4. Heels that cost more than your whole closet combined. Z LOVES her Christian Louboutin heels and we don’t blame her at all, they are gorgeous shoes. Sadly, no teen could afford even one pair of these heels (they cost around $1,400 a pair) let alone numerous pairs like Zendaya does.

5. All hail the Dali Lama. NBD, Zendaya is just hanging out with the Dali Lama, like all the cool kids at your high school. Oh wait, that would NEVER happen.

6. But first, let me read my book. You all read YA novels like John Green’s Paper Towns, but none of us read books we actually wrote. It’s very cool but not realistic at all.

7. Sketch-tastic. Let’s be honest if someone drew you a cool picture like this you’d Instagram it. So we’re going to give Z a pass on this one.

8. Video cameos. Not only is Z BFFs with Taylor Swift, but she starred in her music video for “Bad Blood” as Cut Throat and it was epic. This is so NOT real life!

9. Goody two-shoes. We thought Zendaya was cool based on her singing, dancing and acting skills, but this makes her even more cool. If that’s even possible. The California native is venturing to South Africa as a part of the UNAIDS group. Btw if we could do this, we’d sign up ASAP.

10. Sixth Harmony. Causal selfies with your crew are a must as a teen, too bad our crew doesn’t include the lovely ladies of Fifth Harmony. #SquadGoals.

11. Working on her close up. The Oakland native is so cute and pretty, so it’s no surprise that she looks flawless in her photo shoots. Sadly, teens days consist of school and homework not photo shoots and looking at proofs of themselves.

12. Sneakers with a major price tag. Yes, you all have cool kicks and fun-colored workout shoes, but the 18-year-old actress gives us major #ShoesdayTuesday envy with her sneakers. They cost at least $700 a pair! That’s crazy.

13. Billboard babe. If taking selfies with celebrities isn’t enough of a clue that the Disney darling isn’t your average teen, seeing her face on a giant billboard definitely proves it. Unlike your normal teenager, who posts pictures for likes, Zendaya gets like a million mental likes when people see her photo on Sunset Blvd. every day.

14. Red carpet chic. Not only does Zendaya look fierce on the reg, but she gets to hit the red carpet circuit all the time and she’s always dressed in designer duds. Basically she’s living every girl’s dream.

15. Behind-the-scenes fashion perks. Some lucky ladies work in fashion or intern for super cool companies, but Z is all about the exclusive fashion moments. Seriously, how many people can say they shopped a designer’s collection in their private show room?

16. Model status. Fashion campaigns, magazine covers, TV shows… Zendaya isn’t normal. Sorry.
