The Wildest Red Carpet Looks At The 2018 Billboard Music Awards

Once again, recording artist Z LaLa went big.

There was no shortage of wild and daring looks on the Billboard Music Awards red carpet in Las Vegas on Sunday night.

Stars like Jennifer Lopez and Taylor Swift brought their style A-games. But when it came to really making a statement, influencers like Patrick Starr, dressed like a literal bloomed flower, and Chantel Jeffries, in a bold catsuit, really went for it. And, as always, recording artist Z LaLa delivered, with a wild, golden ensemble and a massive beehive hairdo.

Check out some of the night’s wildest and most daring looks:

Frankie J. Grande

The TV host’s short suit is one few others could pull off. Paired with the sparkly shoes, it’s a bold look, for sure.

Patrick Starrr

The influencer served up some serious flower power.

Z LaLa

Recording artist Z LaLa never fails to deliver on a wild red carpet outfit. This gold look was no exception.

Riff Raff

We can always count on rapper Riff Raff to wear something outside the box.

DJ Pauly D with The Ritas

“Jersey Shore” star Pauly D’s guests definitely stole the show in their wild ensembles.

Cheryl James and DJ Spinderella of Salt-N-Pepa

Rapper Cheryl James’ (left) sheer black dress was bold, that’s for sure.

Singer Ciara’s daring naked dress looks gorgeous on the star.

Chantel Jeffries

Influencer Chantel Jeffries dared to bare in this revealing catsuit.

Alyson Stoner

No shirt? No problem, for dancer Alyson Stoner, who went with a modern “Purple Rain” vibe for the show.

Bebe Rexha

The singer’s sleeves are definitely wild.

Singer Normani gave Angelia Jolie a run for her money with this sheer, ultrahigh-slit dress.

Demi Lovato

If there’s one person who can pull of a full leopard print, it’s Demi Lovato.

#BBMAs: Hottest Red Carpet Looks!

Hello sweet thangs!

So tonight is the Billboard Music Awards 2019 aka the #BBMAs! The red carpet has already begun, and though not everyone has hit it YET, I thought I would collect the photos of the artists who have already touched down! OMG Shawn Mendes looks amazing in his suit, he's really coming into his own as an artist AND as a man! One of my pop crushes Dua Lipa is there (and performing) and WOW, she looks gorgeous in this amazing shade of purple! She is so beyond gorgeous and, of course, talented, it's not even funny!

Normani is also there and looks incredible.. she is performing "Love Lies" with Khalid which is exciting as she is now solo! Also hitting the carpet so far is BTS!!! The #BTSArmy is so pumped for the show and to see their fave! Host Kelly Clarkson looks amazing as well, she has such a great personality so I have no doubt she will kill it as MC of the evening! Can't forget uber-producer and artist Diplo.. he's so handsome! Also Julia Michaels looking gorg! Can't wait to see Ari and Xtina..

The show will be amazing with performances also from Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez, Demi Lovato + Christina Aguilera + much more! Hit me up and let me know what your favorite parts were! Had a blast on air at Z100 this weekend! Love when you connect with me- makes me so happy!

5 Things We're Looking Forward to at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards Tonight

Sunday is coming up fast for music lovers, and the 2018 Billboard Music Awards will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas before we know it. The level of talent on deck is astonishing, with performances from Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran and so many more.

The BBMAs, which will be broadcast on NBC (details here), should be an amazing precursor to a scorching-hot music season this summer. Without further ado, here are five things we couldn’t be more excited about for this year’s awards.

Team-Ups, Team-Ups & More Team-Ups

Three great duets are planned for this year (so far), including performances from Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato, Macklemore and Kesha, and even the triple-threat of Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey. What will these collaborations -- some of which we don’t see very often -- reap at the BBMAs? Expect some surprises.

First Performances of New Songs

Christina and Demi will be debuting their empowering duet “Fall in Line” in front of a live audience for the first time. With its outspoken message and subject matter, that’s sure to get social media buzzing. That’s not all: Korean boy band sensation BTS is set to perform “Fake Love” -- which they’ve been teasing extensively -- for the first time as well, and Shawn Mendes and Khalid are teaming up for the first TV performance of their collaboration "Youth."

Ariana Set to Slay With “No Tears Left to Cry” Performance

Ariana Grande’s “No Tears Left to Cry” is an ebullient, picking-up-the-pieces jam that has resonated since its release last month -- especially as the victims and families affected by the Manchester bombing outside her 2017 concert continue to heal. Her performance of this top 10 hit is sure to bring the house down.

A Seriously Close Race in the Top New Artist Category

Will our top new artist of 2018 be Cardi B, whose sensational Invasion of Privacy hit this year like a meteor? 21 Savage, whose feature with Post Malone hit the Hot 100 at No. 1? Khalid, Kodak Black or Camila Cabelo, all of whom have had a titanic impact this year in their own rights by giving us instant classics like “Location” and “Havana”? This is set to be a seriously close race.

Ed Sheeran Beaming In From Dublin

Sheeran pops up a lot this year, with nominations in the top artist, top Hot 100 artist, top male artist, top song sales artist and top Hot 100 song categories… phew! While he won’t be in Vegas for the awards show, he will beam in a live performance on location from Dublin, where he’s still in the midst of his massive, ongoing stadium tour.

Ariana Grande Gives a Surprise Performance at Coachella 2018

The second weekend of Coachella is underway, and attendees have already been #blessed with a pretty epic surprise: an unexpected performance from Ariana Grande.

Fans suspected that the singer-songwriter might be making an appearance at the festival when her manager, Scooter Braun, posted a couple of pretty cryptic tweets yesterday evening. "Hey @ArianaGrande ... what are u are you doing tonight???" he asked, adding a cactus emoji for emphasis. Later, he tweeted again: "On the way the Coachella stage! Let’s see who is there?????" Needless to say, Arianators quickly flipped out, replying with excitement: "OMG #ARICHELLA IS REALLY HAPPENING!!!!"

And yes, #Arichella did really happen. As noted by Entertainment Tonight, Ariana took the stage during Kygo's set to perform her brand-new single "No Tears Left to Cry." Her signature ponytail was tinted lavender for the event, and she rocked a color-coordinated outfit to match, complete with over-the-knee boots.

Soon enough, excited concertgoers began sharing photos and video of the performance on social media, posting enthusiastically about the epic surprise. "MY BABY #ARICHELLA," one fan tweeted alongside a colorful photo of the stage. "I CANT TALK OMG IM SOOOO OMG," another audience member wrote (honestly, I'd have the same reaction).

As for Ariana, she posted a few photos on Instagram from the evening, including a sweet pic of her hugging Mac Miller. "Baby’s first time performing No Tears tonight at Coachella," Ariana wrote in another caption, adding: "Thank you @kygomusic for having me!" It's safe to say that Ariana stole the show last night, and we'll be keeping our eyes peeled to see what other surprises are in store for 'chella attendees throughout the weekend.

RuPaul's Drag Race star BeBe slays Adam Lambert with bonkers feline vocals

BeBe Zahara Benet might be the cat’s meow when it comes to drag queen glamour, but her skills as a songstress sound more like a heated hiss.

In EW’s exclusive clip (above) from this week’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 3, the season 1 champion paws her way into the American Idol runner-up’s heart with a fierce feline persona crafted for an upcoming challenge inspired by the Spice Girls.

After RuPaul tasks the final five All Stars 3 contestants with forming a supergroup appropriately dubbed The Kitty Girls, Benet prepares to cut her verse for the quintet’s debut single “Drag Up Your Life” (see what they did there?) with Lambert sitting in as a vocal coach.

“Is this like a French pussy we’re doing in this?” Lambert jokes when Benet enters the recording booth speaking another language. “I’m Jungle Kitty. She is very wild, she is ferocious,” Benet then explains of her chosen character. “But you know, she is international fish, too.”

“I’m very excited about this challenge because bitch, I’m a performer,” she later continues in a confessional, cackling at her own pointed inflection.

When it comes time for Benet to lay down her vocals, however, what comes out of her mouth is an unintelligible mishmash (aside from the crystal clear lyric “Yeah, I’m pussy, bitch!”) that, judging by the expression on Lambert’s face, hit all the right notes.

Tune in to RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 3 Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET on VH1 to find out what the heck BeBe is trying to say. Watch EW’s exclusive sneak peek at the Kitty Girls challenge above.

Apparently, Justin Timberlake Nixed The Prince Hologram At The Last Minute

Justin Timberlake's Super Bowl LI halftime show on Sunday (February 4) is still making waves and the latest word on the street is that the pop titan did indeed have plans to use a Prince hologram during his pop spectacle, but axed the idea at the last minute.

On Monday night (February 5), Page Six reported that the idea was nixed at the last minute because of the online backlash following TMZ's initial report. "He was 100 percent ready to use the hologram but nixed it due to backlash from social media and Prince fans. That's why he had that sheet up like in your mama's backyard," one insider told the publication.

Even though Prince's longtime confidant Sheila E. denied the idea of a hologram via Twitter on Saturday, she also hinted that she personally nixed the idea altogether in her Entertainment Tonight interview. "I just said no. I just felt that it was too soon," she told ET. "The hologram was weird, and Prince did tell me [to] make sure nobody ever does a hologram of me. 'If you're still here, make sure nobody does a hologram.' He thought it was very demonic and that's his spiritual beliefs." Meanwhile, a source close to JT explained that plans for a hologram of the Purple Wonder were never there to begin with. "There's no way Justin would ever disrespect Prince's legacy. He didn't change his performance," the source said of his 11-song set.

After sharing a no entry sign emoji to the hashtag #PrinceHologram via Twitter on Saturday, the late pop icon's half-brother, Omarr Baker, shared a thumbs up emoji in response to a fan, who called Timberlake's duet of "I Would Die 4 U" "a beautiful tribute."

How Justin Timberlake’s Super Bowl Halftime Show Paid Subtle Homage to Janet Jackson

The singer reprised “Rock Your Body” with one major difference.

Justin Timberlake’s Super Bowl halftime performance was one of the most controversial in recent memory before he set foot on the field of Minnesota’s U.S. Bank Stadium Sunday. (That’s saying something considering last year’s performer was perennial controversy lightning rod Lady Gaga.) 14 years after his halftime performance with Janet Jackson became the most notorious in Super Bowl history,Timberlake was promising in the run-up to this year’s show that he was “doing a few things with this halftime show they’ve never quite done before.” If he meant opening small (with a sea of cell phone screens) instead of big (like Lady Gaga’s skydiving stunt), he was right. But right at the top of the show, Timberlake paid homage to Janet Jackson by reprising the song that once got the two of them in so much trouble.

In 2004, while appearing on stage with Jackson, Timberlake infamously crooned the lyrics to “Rock Your Body” that go “I’m gonna have you naked by the end of this song” as he accidentally tore off more of Jackson’s wardrobe than he meant to. 14 years later, Timberlake sang the song again and abruptly halted and shouted “STOP!” right before those infamous lyrics.

There had been a rumor earlier in the week that Timberlake had planned to use a hologram of Prince in order to honor Minneapolis’s most famous musical son. There was strenuous pushback from Prince’s friends and loved ones—including his longtime musical collaborator Sheila E. who pointed out that Prince has serious issues with that increasingly popular technology. The drummer later tweeted: “Family, I spoke w/Justin 2nite and he shared heartfelt words of respect for Prince & the Purple fans. I look 4wrd 2 seeing what I’m sure is going 2 be a spectacular halftime show. There is no hologram.” Timberlake either scrapped his hologram plans in the face of this public criticism, or never planned to use one in the first place.

There was, indeed, no hologram. Instead, Timeberlake opted to have an image of Prince projected behind him while he sang Prince’s “I Would Die 4 U” while seated at the piano. The entire city was then lit up purple (or at least made to look that way) in honor of the singer.

The tribute received mixed (though mostly positive) reviews on social media thanks, in part, to Timberlake’s long and rocky history with Prince and his fans.

But well received or no, that image of Prince acted as Timberlake’s only guest star (if you don’t count that Jimmy Fallon intro)—something the singer had promised during his press conference last week. “To be honest, I had a ton of grand ideas about special guests,” Timberlake explained. “There’s a whole list. I think Vegas has a lot of odds on it, from ‘NSYNC to Jay [JAY-Z] to Chris Stapleton to Janet.” Timberlake was only the ninth performer in Super Bowl history to complete the halftime show solo.
Timberlake’s set opened up with a new single, “Filthy,” before moving into stadium-shaking favorite like “Rock Your Body,” “Cry Me a River,” Sexyback,” and more. Moving between elaborate dance numbers, slow piano ballads like ”‘Til the End of Time,” and rousing, marching-band-enhanced barn burners, Timberlake delivered everything he had to give on Sunday night. The singer concluded with his crowd-pleasing, Oscar-nominated “Can’t Stop the Feeling” as the whole crowd, lit up by cell phones, danced along.

Short of a Jackson cameo, it was quite the show.

OMG: Here's What Justin Bieber Was Doing Instead of Attending the 2018 Grammys

Justin Bieber hasn't shown up to the Grammy Awards since 2016, but there was a glimmer of hope he'd be there this year. He collaborated with Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee for the remix of their international hit song, "Despacito". The song was everywhere and it topped the Billboard Hot 100 list for a record-breaking 16 weeks. It was on constant replay because it was a freaking jam. So, you'd think, that Justin would join his fellow collaborators at the award show to perform a song he had helped make so big. But, we were sadly mistaken.

Luis and Daddy Yankee got up on stage and performed the original version of "Despacito" which is entirely in Spanish. The track was nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Unfortunately, they didn't take home any actual Grammy trophies. But, even with the three nominations it got, still didn't persuade Justin to show up and support all of their hard work.

So, where was Justin? We know he just got back from a super relaxing vacation with his mom, Pattie Mallette. He was also seen recently having lunch with his dad, Jeremy Bieber, and his little brother, Jaxon Bieber. There has been a lot of family time happening lately, but other than that Justin's schedule is pretty much clear so we're not totally sure why he wasn't there. BUT he was spotted by TMZ in West Hollywood on Sunday hanging out with friends after having dinner at Mr. Chow. While the Biebs never won the award for Best New Artist when he could have been up for it, he told the publication he doesn't know but, "it could be" a curse for the artist who do win alluding to the fact that most of the Best New Artists sometimes go under the radar after winning. But, that's all he had to say. Nothing about "Despacito" and nothing about his failure to show.

It's important to note, though, that Luis did ask Justin to perform with himself and Daddy Yankee. He spoke to Entertainment Tonight and said, "Of course we extended the invitation. He's part of the nomination and he helped the song grow even more, and I'm so proud of the job that he did. I'm so proud that he decided to sing most of the song in Spanish... so we're very grateful. He's a good friend, he's a good guy, so hopefully, we'll be able to celebrate together." Justin is reportedly not attending any major public events as he continues to work on his next album. While he hasn't confirmed that, we can only hope that's the case.

Watch the video and check out Justin Bieber forgetting the Spanish lyrics to "Despacito."

The Grammys Fashion Highlights, According to Our Editors

The Grammys red carpet always brings expressive, standout fashion moments from music’s biggest stars. And this year didn’t disappoint. Stars not only had fun with fashion, but many also supported the Time’s up anti-harassment movement by wearing (or carrying) white roses to stand in solidarity and encourage equality. Below we rounded up our red carpet highlights.
Camila Cabello in Vivienne Westwood Couture

Andrea Lavinthal, Senior Style Editor: When you’re ruling not one, not two, but three of Billboard’s biggest charts, you have to bring it to the Grammys, both on stage and on the red carpet. And that’s exactly what Cabello did. Before taking part in a powerful performance of Kesha’s “Prayer,” Cabello turned every head on the carpet in a scarlet Vivienne Westwood Couture gown featuring the designer’s signature corset silhouette. Styled with a dazzling Judith Leiber bag and major Bulgari jewels, the look was pure high fashion glamour. And the singer handled a near wardrobe malfunction like a pro when she paused an interview to adjust the plunging strapless neckline (“hold on, excuse my boob,” she said, turning around to fix the dress).
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend

Brittany Talarico, Senior Style Editor: John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have been hitting the red carpet together for a decade, and each time they step out they manage to look more in love. There’s usually a collective “awwwww” from the style team when when we see them together. John is usually cradling his wife’s bump and they manage to turn award shows into their own date nights. The Grammys was no different. Teigen, who revealed the couple is expecting a son, glittered from head to toe in a silver sequin Yanina Couture dress and Lorraine Schwartz and Ofira jewelry, while Legend looked dapper in a navy tuxedo with a black lapel. They’re what “mom and dad” memes are made of.

Donald Glover

Alex Apatoff, Deputy Style Director: Donald Glover – a.k.a. Childish Gambino – looked incredibly crisp and untouchably cool in his Ermenegildo Zegna Couture white tux (replete with elegantly textured jacquard blazer), finished off with velvet loafers and Tiffany & Co. jewelry. He didn’t add anything else, so I won’t either.

Maren Morris

Kaitlyn Frey, Style & Beauty Assistant: When it comes to red carpet fashion, I can’t help but always fall in love with the glitziest looks, like Maren’s silver crystal-covered Julien Macdonald gown with cold shoulder cutouts. While the Grammys are usually known for stars showing up in next-to-nothing attire, this look perfectly revealed just enough.

Hailee Steinfeld

Colleen Kratofil, Style Writer-Reporter: Just like her dual movie and music career, Hailee Steinfeld perfectly mixed Hollywood glamor with some edgy Grammys touches that made her look my favorite of the night. Her white strapless Alexandre Vauthier gown was sexy and down-right beautiful, but the fact that she paired it with some rock ‘n’ roll elements with her purple knee-high boots and a bold metallic smoky blue eye, really showed how well she embraced the wild and fun Grammys red carpet in a tasteful and classy way.

Lady Gaga

Sharon Kanter, Deputy Style Director: Lady Gaga walked the red carpet first, and no one who came after surpassed this moment for me. Everything about the singer and nominee’s look was on point — from her Armani Privé jumpsuit and dramatic skirt combination (which she removed later after her performance) to her sparkly smoky eye to her laced pulled-back hairstyle. I think it’s because just like her music, Gaga continues to evolve and surprise her fans, and with this look, she shows off her deeply-rooted connections to the fashion world, as well as her ability to still surprise and delight with her red carpet choices. I was completely dazzled.

Janelle Monae

Sarah Ball, Market Editor: I love how defined Janelle Monae’s personal style is — she never departs from it either, which I really admire. Although tonight, I felt like she took a bit of a risk without not looking like herself. The colorful embroidered flowers seemed really fun and bold for her and the fit of this Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo is impeccable — and I just really love a woman in a suit!

Lana Del Rey

Lindy Segal, Style Social Media Editor: It looks like Lana Del Rey is on her way to a very fancy music festival in this starry cream draped Gucci gown, which is precisely what I expect from her, and precisely the opposite of my personal style. And yet, I’m completely drawn to this dress; the embellishments are both pretty and Grammys-appropriate, the high slit is sexy and the halo crown — yes, we’ve got to talk about the crown — just makes me happy in a way I can’t totally explain. The one thing I don’t love about her boho-babe look is the shoes, but I’ll let them slide.

Bebe Rexha in La Perla

Briana Draguca, Style & Beauty Intern: Bebe Rexha surprised me with this look. The singer stepped onto the red carpet in this beautiful La Perla gown that featured intricate beading and tulle accents. The dress perfectly hugged Rexha’s curves but I especially loved the color, which made the look feel even more feminine. On top of the show stopping gown, Rexha also debuted a new short blonde bob that perfectly went with the look.

Jillian Ruffo, Associate Beauty Editor: There’s nothing I love more than a lady suit on a red carpet. And while the evening’s looks contained a few (Janelle Monae and Anna Kendrick also sported the trend), Eve’s graphic, black and silver bead-embellished ensemble won me over instantly. The androgynous style of the suit, paired with the graphic beaded pattern and her bare skin makes the number chic, sexy and ultra-glamorous all at once.

Mariah Carey Returns to New Year's Rockin' Eve: Did She Redeem Herself?

Mariah Carey may have started 2017 by dropping the ball, but she finished it by dropping the mic.

Roughly 364 days after her infamous lip sync snafu — in which she literally stumbled through back-to-back performances of “Emotion” and “We Belong Together” before awkwardly sauntering off stage — Carey returned to Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest to take a well-deserved shot at redemption. And as the esteemed sportscaster Katy Perry might say, “Swish swish, bish.”

“We can all agree that last year didn’t go exactly as planned and we are thrilled to move forward together to provide America with an incredible night of music and celebration,” Carey said in a statement when her comeback performance was first announced — and she proved herself to be a woman of her word.

The big moment arrived towards the end of the telecast, with Carey taking the stage to perform some of her greatest hits, including “Vision of Love.” Then, after stopping to ask for some tea (which never got delivered to the stage), she was joined by a gospel choir on “Hero.”

Needless to say, everybody is breathing a sigh of relief after that performance. (And I literally mean “everybody,” which is who Carey blamed for her 2016 debacle.)

We’ll post video of Carey’s big moment when it becomes available. In the meantime, do you agree that tonight’s return made up for last year’s legendary flop?
