Las Vegas Festival Shooting: Sia, Nickelback, Mariah Carey and More React on Social Media

Police and rescue personnel gather at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Ave. after a mass shooting at a country music festival nearby on October 2, 2017 in Las Vegas.

The mass shooting at a Las Vegas music festival late Sunday has resonated around the world.

Multiple lives were lost when the rampage started. Witnesses say country singer Jason Aldean was playing near the end of the Route 91 Harvest Festival when the shots began.

Aldean is safe from harm though scores among the 40,000 festival-goers were hurt or killed. At just before 5am ET, officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed at least 50 dead and 400 injured. The shooter -- a local -- has been confirmed dead, according to the LVMPD‏.

As news of the carnage spread, musicians took to social media to send love, offer condolences for the lost and injured and to condemn another senseless act of violence.

Pink is an American singer, songwriter, dancer and actress. Pink rose as an artist with her debut solo album, Can't Take Me Home (2000). It was certified double-platinum in the United States and spawned two Billboard Hot 100 top-ten hits: "There You Go" and "Most Girls". She gained further recognition with the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack "Lady Marmalade", which gave Pink her first Grammy Award as well as her first number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100. Pink took more artistic control and pursued a pop rock direction for her second album, Missundaztood (2001). It sold more than 12 million copies worldwide and yielded three US top-ten singles, "Get the Party Started", "Don't Let Me Get Me", and "Just Like a Pill".
Pink's third album, Try This (2003), generated considerably lower sales, but earned her the Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Pink revived her popularity with her fourth and fifth studio albums, I'm Not Dead (2006) and Funhouse (2008), with the latter containing her second US number-one hit, "So What". Pink concluded the first decade of her career with the compilation album Greatest Hits... So Far!! (2010), which featured "Fuckin' Perfect" and the chart-topping single "Raise Your Glass". Her sixth studio album, The Truth About Love (2012), debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and spawned the top-ten singles "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)", "Try", and "Just Give Me a Reason", with the latter becoming her fourth US number-one single.
Recognized for her strong signature vocals and acrobatic performances, Pink has sold over 47 million albums worldwide, including over 16 million albums in the United States. Her career accolades include three Grammy Awards, a Brit Award, a Daytime Emmy Award and six MTV Video Music Awards. In 2009, Billboard named Pink the Pop Songs Artist of the Decade. Pink was also the second most-played female solo artist in the United Kingdom during the 2000s decade, behind Madonna. VH1 ranked her number 10 on their list of the 100 Greatest Women in Music, while Billboard awarded her the Woman of the Year award in 2013. At the 63rd annual BMI Pop Awards, she received the BMI President's Award for "her outstanding achievement in songwriting and global impact on pop culture and the entertainment industry."

GIRL POWER: Lauren Jauregui and Halsey Are Teaming Up For a New Song

Even though the ladies of Fifth Harmony are hard at work on their first album as a quartet, each group member has also ventured out to work on their own individual projects away from the band.
So it should come as no shock that Lauren Jauregui – who has collaborated with other artists before, is teaming up with Halsey for a song they seem to have recorded in secrecy. The song is for the “Colors” singer’s upcoming album Hopeless Fountain Kingdom and we have a feeling it’s going to be one of the best songs on the album. Their amazing vocals harmonizing together is going to be absolute fire.
The news was revealed by the “New Americana” singer in a series of tweets that lead up to the reveal of her album’s official track listing. She shared a picture listing all the song titles and wrote, “Hidden in the newspaper. A TRACKLIST..... ✨馃尮馃敟 hopeless fountain kingdom 6/2/17.”

Featured on the 13th song titled “Strangers” is Lauren who shared the news with fans on Twitter by retweeting Halsey and using the eyes emoji to pretty much sum up her excitement.

The singer then followed up the tweet with a post on Instagram, once more reposting the track listing and writing, “Available for preorder now, comes out 6/2/17 ❤❤ @iamhalsey #strangers.”

Una publicaci贸n compartida de laurenjauregui (@laurenjauregui) el

Fans immediately flooded the Lauren’s comments section with their own words of excitement for the song, but waiting until June 2nd to hear it feels like a pretty long wait.
Perhaps before the album is released, Halsey and Lauren will decide to give their loyal and dedicated fans a preview of “Strangers.” Now that would be amazing.
This is exciting news for Lauren and we can’t wait to see what other artists she’ll be collaborating with on some secret projects in the future.

Antes lo hab铆a hecho, pero con The Beatles, en ‘Love‘(2006); con un tributo a Elvis Presley, en ‘Viva Elvis‘ (2010); y con un homenaje a Michael Jackson, en la obra ‘The Immortal World Tour‘ (2011).

Watch Troye Sivan's Powerful 'Heaven' Music Video

This new music video from Troye Sivan is very poignant.

The 21-year-old crooner just dropped the visuals for “Heaven” and it features footage of historic LGBT moments throughout history.

“we have always been here. we will always be here,” Troye said in a statement. “this video is dedicated to all who’ve come before me and fought for our cause and those who now continue the fight. in dark and light times, let’s love forever. love, troye”

It’s likely not a coincidence that he released the video just one day ahead of Donald Trump‘s inauguration.

#ImWithThem: The Rockettes Shouldn't Have To Perform For Donald Trump (Op-Ed)

To date, no artist of A-list stature has signed on to sing at Donald Trump’s 2017 presidential inauguration. With all due respect to the slated lineup -- including The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and 16-year-old opera singer Jackie Evancho -- compared to past performers (including Beyonc茅Kelly Clarkson, and even Aretha Franklin), this roster reads like a holiday extravaganza at an Elks Lodge in central New Jersey. Not even newly blonde bombshell Kanye West has agreed to play, despite sharing his autographed copy of Trump’s TIME Magazine cover on Twitter.
The musical divide for the inauguration is so deep that in Miami, a Democratic-led concert is reportedly being planned for Inauguration Day (Jan. 21) with big-name acts showing interest in performing. Yet in perhaps his most horrifically bold move, Donald Trump has added a league of women to dance for him: the Rockettes.
After the year women have been subjected to with Trump, they shouldn’t have to entertain him in tights. I can’t say with a straight face that Trump’s 2016 has been horrific for all women, since a majority of them with my same pale hue voted him into office. I was not one of them. However, as with every election cycle, new dirt surfaces. With Trump, we found plague-inducing particles of racism, sexism and special-needs discrimination, among other forms of bigotry. People rolled their collective eyes when Trump was displaying this on an episode of The Apprentice, but now he's leading our country. Trump’s America has already shown to include vile words against immigrants and minorities, and incite hate-based violence that continues to occur under the "Make America Great Again" flag.
Ladies, whether you supported Trump or not, his overt haranguing of women in broad daylight is blatant. We saw sexual assault cases involving him evaporate into the ether, old video footage of him berating women behind the scenes with television personality Billy Bush, dated recordings with his dated opinions on women that he still regurgitates today. We were re-introduced to his fat shaming of Rosie O’Donnell, and while Hillary Clinton (“such a nasty woman," Trump said at one point during the debates) shoved Miss Universe Alicia Machado’s name down our throats, we were reminded of Trump’s creepy and judge-y relationship with the national pageant he co-owned.
Now, the Rockettes, known for delivering their leggy, strictly coordinated dances at New York's Radio City, will have to high-kick their bare legs in the air for America’s new daddy. It’s pretty sad and gross if you think about it. In their 80-year existence, the Rockettes have been known as gorgeous ladies who do their iconic March of the Wooden Soldiers for the likes of the U.S. Navy to random tourists and natives during their Christmas Spectacular. Their mere existence is arguably soemething of a headache for progressive women, as black-and-white movies where charlatan businessmen ogle skilled female dancers play on projectors in our heads. But then we’re reminded that all year-round, the Rockettes hold other careers and also do their own hair and makeup. They’re more than their self-applied rouge.
Yet here we are, inching into the Trump Era -- fueled by every -ism known to privileged white men -- with these poor Rockettes ushering him into his role as the nation's 45th Commander-in-Chief. They shouldn’t have to carry that burden. One Rockette, Phoebe Pearl, has boldly taken umbrage with their scheduled performance over social media. She also shed some light on the fact that this wasn’t a Rockettes group decision: “Finding out that it has been decided for us that Rockettes will be performing at the Presidential inauguration makes me feel embarrassed and disappointed,” she wrote.
There is one caveat: MSG Entertainment, owners of the Rockettes, also told Billboard's sister site The Hollywood Reporter in a statement that "it is always their choice," and that some of the dancers had even volunteered to perform for the inauguration, which has yet to be confirmed among the Rockettes themselves. "The Radio City Rockettes are proud to participate in the 58th Presidential Inaugural," the statement read. "For a Rockette to be considered for an event, they must voluntarily sign up and are never told they have to perform at a particular event, including the inaugural. It is always their choice. In fact, for the coming inauguration, we had more Rockettes request to participate than we have slots available. We eagerly await the inaugural celebrations."

So how exactly will this scenario go down at the Inauguration as Trump watches The Rockettes perform? Will the "hooded Kermit" meme of Trump’s mind fall along these lines:
Trump: Ah, look at those Rockettes. Very bigly celebration of me. How lovely.
Also Trump: Grab them by the p---y.
It’s hardly a laughing matter, but it helps to keep from crying. The Rockettes dancing for Donald Trump when it wasn’t their choice shouldn’t happen unless they agree to it. Additionally, if any Rockette doesn't feel comfortable performing for the publicly sexist President Elect, they shouldn't have to contend with fear of termination for declining to participate. Their union representatives from the American Guild of Variety Artists even reportedly ruled that any boycott of the inauguration by the dancers was "invalid," making the performance more of a mandate than a celebratory performance.
But let’s be honest here: we already know it’s in Trump’s nature to force women into actions against their will. This seems like it will be no different.
